Beach ParaVolley World Series Open
The stage is set as the world prepares to witness the first ever Beach ParaVolley World Series Open!
As the campaign to include Beach ParaVolley in future Paralympic Games continues, Pingtan, China was selected to host the historic event on 9-12 May featuring 11 men’s and two women’s teams.
Battling to be the first men’s champions are the hosts’ Wu Kai, Wei Fan, and Ma Cong; Australia’s Bradley John Barclay, Nicholas Andrew Coburn, and Nicholas Robert Howie Kaiser; Kazakhstan’s Altayev Yerbolat, Sanvar Shakhrukh, Urazaliyev Bauyrzhan, and Kulushov Nuraly; USA’s Chris Seilkop, Eric Duda, and Phillip Newkirk; Germany’s Elmar Werner Sommer, Reisepass Wiesenthal, and Torben Schiewe; and Slovakia’s Juraj Kucej, Martin Dubovsky, Rudolf Makovini.
Two countries will be sending in two teams, including Poland’s Adam Piotr Stępień, Artur Stanislaw Wąsowicz, and Rafal Jerzy Wojtowicz; and Michal Wypych, Bartlomiej Janusz Synowiec, and Jacek Grzegorz Molinski. Indonesia, meanwhile are fielding Abhishek Aluwala, Sahir Ali Mallick, and Nareshyadav Ragula; and Datar Singh Deewarata, Mahesh Dheeravath, and Virendra Singh.
On the women’s side, on the other hand, representing China are Li Yue, Xu Danshu, and Chen Yalin. Meanwhile, Autum Reagan, Meredith Gross, and Skye Mc Dermott will banner the USA flag.
The Pingtan World Series Open will be held at the Longwangtou Beach in Pingtan County, Fuzhou, China. Pool play begins on Thursday, 9 May, at 09:00 (GMT+8). The quarterfinals are set on Saturday, 11 May, followed by the medal matches and awarding ceremonies on the following day.
