Cristina Chirichella will soon be playing the first #CLVolleyW gold medal match of her career – and she will do so at the age of 25. Chirichella has played a leading role to secure the first opportunity for Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA to play for the most coveted Volleyball crown in Europe and she will be another star player to follow closely at the historic Super Finals taking place in Berlin on May 18.

After achieving success with Italy’s national teams at the youth and junior level, Cristina cemented her status of rising star as soon as she joined the senior ranks, helping Italy qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympics and wearing the shirt of the ‘Azzurre’ at the last edition of the Olympic Games.

However, her major international breakthrough came last year when she won silver with Team Italy at the FIVB World Championship held in Japan. A national champion in 2017 and three-time winner of the national cup, Chirichella has spent almost her entire senior career with Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA.

With 17 blocks to her name in this Champions League season this far, the 195 cm tall Chirichella will be chasing her first accolade in European Cup competitions in Berlin as NOVARA add yet another chapter to their domestic rivalry with Imoco Volley CONEGLIANO. It is the first such all-Italian final in the Champions League since 2005 – and you can be sure that Cristina wants to be on the winning side at the end of the historic matchup due to take place at the iconic Max-Schmeling-Halle!
