Fenerbahce crowned Turkish champions

After seven years of waiting, Fenerbahce ISTANBUL are again the men’s national champions of Turkey! They achieved this feat after claiming the fifth and last match of the championship series with Arkas IZMIR 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-19) to secure their second trophy this season after seizing the national cup a few weeks ago. Fenerbahce have become Turkey’s national champions for the fifth time in their history.

The series ended at three wins for Fenerbahce to two for Arkas. Fenerbahce had claimed two 3-2 wins at home to get the series underway, before Arkas responded with 3-2 and 3-0 victories on home soil.

The national league title caps an incredible season for Fenerbahce after a slow start to the 2018-2019 campaign. They had finished the regular season in fifth place only before edging reigning champions Halkbank ANKARA in the semis and edging Arkas in the final.
